Personalised Gifts / E-Commerce 2026
Gifted with Purpose
A mother-and-daughter personalised-gifts business from Namibia: pick the cup, pick the design, order on WhatsApp. From N$200.

Challenge
A handmade product and a WhatsApp workflow needed a catalogue the founders did not have to maintain.
Gifted with Purpose is Geneveve and Payton, a mother-and-daughter team making personalised tumblers, mugs and kids cups. Their order flow already worked: customers message on WhatsApp, the team confirms, the gift gets made. What they lacked was a place where the full catalogue could be browsed without the founders answering the same questions all day.
The constraint was maintenance. Two people running production cannot also run a web shop with stock counts and payment gateways. The site had to show everything, sell nothing directly, and stay current without daily work.
Approach
The catalogue sells. WhatsApp closes.
Every product and design lives in one data file. The site renders it as a static catalogue: items with real prices, 141 ready-made designs filterable by what fits, and five curated collections from teacher appreciation to kids selection. Changing a price is a one-line edit and a deploy.
The order path mirrors how the business already works. Choices collect into a gift bag, then arrive in WhatsApp as one message with the reference and price written out. The founders confirm before anything is made. No accounts, no checkout, no stock system — and 44 photographs of real finished orders as the proof layer.
Craft
One data file as the whole shop
Products, prices, collections and descriptions come from a single source of truth. All 18 routes prerender as static HTML. The founders edit one file; Vercel redeploys the entire catalogue.
The gift bag ends in WhatsApp
The bag is client-side only. It assembles one message with the reference and the price, then hands it to the conversation where the sale actually happens. Nothing is stored, nothing to breach.
Real orders as the catalogue's proof
44 photographs of items printed and handed over. A buyer judges the finish before committing. No styled mockups, no borrowed photography.
Outcome
A catalogue that answers every question before the first message is sent.
Gifted with Purpose launched with a site that carries the whole catalogue, prices included, while the founders keep taking orders the way they always have. The repetitive questions moved to the site. The conversations that reach WhatsApp start warmer and better informed.
The lesson: e-commerce is not always the answer. When a business already closes on WhatsApp, the website's job is to pre-sell everything and interrupt nothing.
