Oryx Institute

A launching-soon site for a Namibian institute: one calm holding page with a direct contact line and an email list, live before the full site follows.

The institute exists before its programs do. The site had to say so honestly.

The Oryx Institute was preparing to open with programs still being finalised. It needed a live address now, before the full site could exist, because a domain that resolves to nothing reads as an organisation that does not exist. The trap in a launching-soon page is decoration: countdown timers, vague promises and invented details age badly and create expectations the institute never set.

The brief was a holding presence that could carry the brand with dignity, invite contact from partners and early students, and make no claim the institute could not yet stand behind. Whatever the page promised, it had to be true the day it shipped.

One page, one job.

One page, one job: say who is coming, invite contact, stop. The page states the institute's name and intent in plain language, offers a direct contact path and an email list for updates, and politely declines to list programs, dates or fees that are not final. Restraint is the design: the same editorial palette and type system the studio's work is known for, with nothing shouting over an organisation that has not started yet.

The page is built to be replaced. It runs on the same stack as the studio's full builds, so the launching-soon page lifts directly into the future site's structure: when the programs are final, the holding page retires and the real site takes the same address without ceremony.

What carried the result

Honest before launch

No countdown timers, no invented programs, no placeholder fees. The page says what is true today: the institute is coming, and here is how to reach it.

One page, one job

Confirm existence, invite contact, collect updates. Everything else waits for launch day. A holding page that does less, does it credibly.

Built to be replaced

The holding page runs on the same foundation as the studio's full builds, so launch day is a handover, not a rebuild.

A live address before launch day.

Oryx Institute has a live, honest address before launch day: a calm page that confirms the institute is real, collects genuine enquiries, and promises nothing it cannot deliver. Early interest lands in an inbox instead of a void.

The case is a small one and says so. Not every build needs thirty pages; this one needed one good page at the right time, built so the full site can follow without throwing it away.
